Frontrunning

2008 April 4

Frontrunning is a practice that gives a lot of people heartburn. They check a domain name, then going on with something else and when they try to register the name they find out it’s already been registered by the website they first checked the name at. Bob Parsons explained it in a no nonsense way with his video blog. His company doesn’t do frontrunning, but gets to hear about it.

The best rule for getting the domain you want is be ready to pay for it as soon as you check it’s availability. If price is the deal breaker for you, check the price before you begin the query. I’ve been using www.GoDaddy.com because I’ve found they offer the best prices than any other register I’ve dealt with and I’ve had been registering domains for a long time.

It will be interesting to see how Godaddy’s first NASCAR venture goes this weekend in Texas. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. will be driving the car, so Godaddy will be in front of a new, loyal huge fan base this weekend.

The only frontrunning Godaddy wants is for there number 5 to stay up front all weekend.
