Bad Appears on Good Friday in Murfreesboro
You can’t help but keep the folks down the road in Murfreesboro, TN. in your thoughts. On a day when many were off from work for Good Friday a tornado tore across the fabric of the college town outside of Nashville. After the storm had passed a mother and daughter were dead, thirty more people were injured, at least 100 homes were destroyed and another 130 plus homes were damaged.
You can find plenty of new reports here, here, here, here and here. Also you search Twitter under the hastag #murfreesboro and lots of first person accounts of the tornado and the aftermath. I did find one Tweet that struck me odd from a Psychic in the area. I can’t believe that she had to wait for the sirens before she went to the basement.
There was one incredible piece of video from someone in the Murfreesboro area that shows the funnel of tornado passing close to where they were. Watching the video made me think of one more thing I need to add to emergency backpack, The Flip video camera. It seems like a simple enough camera that would be handy in situations like a violent storm. I couldn’t find the list I had of things that everybody should have in an emergency/disaster backpack, I thought it might come in handy to at least one person. I’ll post it over the weekend.
Even though it is four days shy of paying the “Tax Man”, The Red Cross of Middle Tennessee is seeking donations to help with the relief efforts underway for victims of tornado in Murfreesboro. At time when the economy is tight, no donation would be considered too small this agency right now.
