Zombie Film Shot In Moonshine Country
If there is one thing that I know that keeps a lot of you coming here – Zombies. Why you come here in search of Zombies is still a mystery to me, but I just roll with the flow. To help satisfy your appetite for all things Zombies here’s another nugget of news about the walking dead.
Clint Keller, a young East Tennessee film maker, recently completed an indy film titled Road to Oblivion. The flick features Zombies as the antagonist. Keller filmed the flick in Cocke County, Tennessee. Yes the same Cocke County that is famous for moonshine and Popcorn Sutton may soon be famous for Zombies also. Moonshine Zombies… now there’s a there’s a perspective that hasn’t been tried.
The Road to Oblivion is set to premiere August 8th at Newport Cinema 4 in Newport. I haven’t had a chance to touch base with Clint to get more background about the film and it’s opening, but I wanted to give a quick heads up so the horror movie fans can start planning now. You can find a group on Facebook about the film and I’ve added the trailer for Road to Oblivion below to get you started.
You might be asking yourself how successful could a movie filmed in Cocke County be. Remember Evil Dead? The classic horror movie directed by Sam Raimi of Spider-Man fame was partially film in the Cocke County area. Morristown, Tennessee gets most of the credit on fan websites as the location of the film, but it was filmed to the rural areas south Morristown in Hamblen and Cocke Counties. I was in high school at the time and I can still remember getting run out of one the locations that it was being shot at.
I will have more about the Road to Oblivion‘s premiere as far ticket prices, start times and et cetera later on. So if you’re the type of person who hears about a chemical spill and thinks Zombies, mark the 8th on your calendars now and check back soon.

yes, there has been a movie about moonshine zombies. It was a Troma film called “Redneck Zombies”.
“Moonshine Zombies… now there’s a there’s a perspective that hasn’t been tried.” – Not so my friend. How could you forget the classic “Redneck Zombies”?
From the Amazon page – “When a clan of hillbily dirtfarmers turn a misplaced barrell of chemical waste into a whiskey still, going blind is the least of their worries as the toxic moonshine turns them into REDNECK ZOMBIES!”

Thanks for shaking free my memory, I recall the Redneck Zombies flick. It didn’t leave a lasting impression as the other Troma classic, The Toxic Avenger.
Everybody remember the film shows tomorrow you can find out more here. It’s will be a great way to roll into great weekend.
