Windows 7 with it's DirectX 11 and the DirectCompute API takes the raw power from GPU card to make short work from computer intense applications.
Inside Windows 7 is a sleeper that can make a photographer’s life a little easier. Windows 7 has tucked DirectX 11 and the DirectCompute API to accelerate computer intensive Windows applications on graphics processors. Photoshop CS4 is the first graphics application to use the GPU muscle on video cards like the ones with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 chipset.
Look for more software companies to take advantage of the GPU in the immediate future.
