Googling Brittany Murphy’s Death in Realtime

Watching the Twitter timeline I saw that actress Brittany Murphy’s death was trending. Curious if it was fact or another Jeff Goldblum hoax, I went to Google and I was pleasantly surprised. Not that I saw she has died, but the realtime streaming of the all the news stories, blog posts and tweets.  The query Brittany Murphy is dead returned the page in the screenshot above.

As we move into 2010 we will witnessing a new wave that searches and news gathering have merge with these realtime mash-ups. The results are going to raw and unedited. I can’t help but believe there is going a lot fiction presented as fact at the start of each story’s life. I like the concept, I’m just a little cautious of the dark part of the Internet that will make its way into the crawl.
